Guides and drivers are drawn from a large pool of freelance professionals, some of whom are generalists, but many of whom are specialist guides (for example in wildlife, geology, wine, architecture and history).
Hugh Fynn, retired geography and physical education teacher and school principal. Keen environmentalist, hiker, geomorphologist. Sport, art and music lover. Energised by people of all walks.
Karen Small, corporate escapee with a passion for people and
nature. Qualified tour guide since March 2006 with a Cape Wine Academy certificate. Favourite areas include the Garden Route and Addo Elephant Park.
Luke Oberholzer, freelance guide for Big Blue Sky Tours since 2009. Keen interest in South African history, animals and wine. Personal interests include photography, hiking, sport, and a conspiratorial view of history. Essentially, Luke is a people person.
Erica Vink has been guiding in Cape Town several years, to the delight of the many clients who request her services on their return trips. She is a food and wine specialist, turning wine tours into wine events! Erica is always particularly careful in ensuring her guests enjoy the outstanding chocolate offerings from the Franschhoek Valley.
Peter Edge has extremely vast travel experience in countries all over the globe, including Europe, the USA and the Middle East. Here in Southern Africa he is a local Cape Town specialist, but he is also our expert on the safaris we mount in Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. These areas of unspoilt wilderness have always been his own back yard, as Peter grew up close to the Congo border, in Zambia.
He has indefatigable enthusiasm for all our itineraries, and is certainly one of our unforgettable characters!
